modl.ai — Shooter Bots Demo
Built the playable arena shooter and AI sensing layer for modl.ai's bot demo — the same line of work behind modl.ai × Riot Games.
While at Playwood, we were brought in by modl.ai to help build an FPS testbed on top of Lyra (Epic’s Unreal sample project). The goal: a clean, controllable arena where modl.ai’s AI could both gather training data and ultimately drive the bots in play.
I built the base game — a bomb-plant scenario with different hero abilities on a purpose-built map — and implemented the AI sensing layer that feeds the agents perception of the world. It is a focused example of the boundary I like working on: solid gameplay engineering underneath, applied game AI on top.
This work sits in the same area modl.ai later showcased with Riot Games on tactical-shooter bots — see the write-up linked above.
